Joyce W. Murray

Joyce W. Murray, 94, of Auburn, formerly of Niles, passed away peacefully on June 20, 2024, at the Finger Lakes Center for Living. Joyce was born on October 30, 1929, in Huntingdon, PA, daughter of the late Crawford R. and Florence (Currier) Walker. She grew up in Delhi, NY and graduated from Delaware Academy and Cortland College. Joyce married Paul E. Murray on June 22, 1952. She was a kindergarten teacher at Cazenovia, Moravia, and Herman Avenue until in mid 1970's.

Mom had a wonderful sense of humor, a love for animals, and a good mystery book to read. She enjoyed going to Mac's Drive in and the Auburn Civic Band Concerts. She was also an avid Dodgers and SU Sports Fan.

Joyce is survived by her three children, John of Moravia, Christine of Auburn and Steven of Auburn: her constant companion, her cat, Houdini and her grand dogs, Molly and Kylie.

In addition to her parents, Joyce was predeceased by her husband, Paul Murray.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, June 27th from 10am - Noon in White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South Street, Auburn. A mass of Christian Burial will follow at 1pm in St. Matthew's Church, 14 Church Street, Moravia, NY, with interment in New Hope Cemetery.
