Juliet Byrne Obituary

Juliet Mary Rose (Caza) Byrne, 90 of Auburn passed away peacefully on Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at the Commons on St. Anthony, while being embraced by her five loving children. Born July 27, 1934 on the family farm in Niles, NY, Juliet was the daughter of the late Roma and Alice Lalonde Caza. After moving to Auburn to work at the former Murray's Restaurant, Juliet met her future husband James E. Byrne, with whom spent 56 years together, before his passing in 2008.

Together, Juliet and Jim raised five children: Michele Vangalio of Ovid, James T. Byrne of Auburn, Steve (Pamela) Byrne of Auburn, Patricia (Russ) Decker of Aurora and Jennifer Byrne-Decker (Dean Gulbe) of Auburn; she was blessed with 12 grandchildren; and 23 great grandchildren; Juliet also leaves behind her sister Marie Hilliard of Moravia; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents and her husband, Juliet is predeceased by two grandsons Anthony Vangalio and Raymond Decker; son-in-law Jim "Vince" Vangalio; and siblings Ernal R. Caza, Jeanette Caza Grant and Joseph E.R. Caza,

Gramma or "Keen" as some of the grandkids called her, was a loving and dedicated mother, grandmother and great grandmother. Throughout the years, her Frances Street home was a meeting place for family and her children's friends. Known for her amazing Christmas Eve buffets and Sunday suppers, she baked cookies for her children and their friends, and later her grandchildren and their friends. "Keen" made her house a home to all. In addition to being a diehard Syracuse University Basketball fan, Juliet was an avid reader and self-proclaimed expert Uno player. She loved to entertain family and friends with parlor games at the family home. Blessed with a green thumb, Juliet could grow a tree in the desert. She once took a half-broken twig given to her as a joke by her brother Joe, and she was able to mend it and care for it as it grew to a full pine tree. That pine tree stood in the front yard of their Frances Street home for years to come. She will be missed by all that knew and loved her, but the memories will remain.

Friends are invited to join the family for a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered at 10:00 am Monday, February 24, 2025 in St. Alphonsus Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Arrangements are with White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South Street, Auburn.

The Byrne family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Ann Matheson, as well as the entire 4th Floor staff of the Commons, for the true love and care they showed toward Juliet. They thank you from the bottom of their hearts.
