Kathleen Fedor, surrounded by loving family and friends, died in Auburn, NY, on March 2nd 2025. Her cause of death was cancer. She was 80.
Kathleen Fedor was born in Auburn, NY, to Elmer and Anita Sedar, the first of two sisters, with Andrea.
Kathy graduated from Central High School and went straight to work. She eventually met her one true love, Tom Fedor, during a double date. Together, they shared over six years of marriage, relocating to northern and southern New York before returning to the Finger Lakes for Tom’s work managing grocery stores. Tom oversaw the business operations, while Kathy managed the books. Upon Tom’s untimely death, Kathy settled back in Auburn for good. As a single mother, Kathy became the pillar of strength for her two young sons, raising them with unwavering love and the support of her family.
Kathy was superb mother, grandmother, aunt and of course, to many “Great.” She crocheted Christmas stockings for every child, their spouses, and nieces, including each of their children. She always remembered every birthday, right down to her great nieces and nephews, sending a little something along with her best wishes. Kathy promoted and supported our academic and athletic achievements. Making sure to acquire school apparel, she followed every game and cheered every win and success. She served as a confidante and friend to all her family members.
Kathy was introduced to her long-time companion, Paul Canolesio, by a girlfriend. Paul and Kathy traveled the world. He provided experiences she had never dreamed of, giving her a literal taste of Italy, France, Mexico, and numerous locations throughout the continental United States. Kathy cherished her family and shared her memories and photographs with them. During the Christmas season, she would fill our stockings with trinkets and treats from each place she had visited. On numerous occasions, we were invited to join them on their travels. We embarked on trips to Canada, visited Walt Disney World, and cruised the Caribbean.
For 25 years, Kathy served as an administrative assistant at C.H.A.D., a non-profit organization that provides confidential assistance to individuals struggling with alcohol and drug addiction. Following her retirement, she transitioned to a program assistant role at Booker T. Washington Community Center and volunteered as an usher with The REV Theatre Company. Additionally, Kathy enjoyed outings as a member of the Sennett Senior Group. Throughout her life, she has engaged in various musical pursuits, including membership in numerous church choirs and her most recent participation with the Genesee Street Voices.
She is survived by her sons Tom (TJ) and his wife, Melissa, and granddaughter Jillian in Maryland; Chris and his wife, Kate, and grandsons Benjamin, Zachary in Skaneateles; sister Andrea Conboy in Auburn; niece Lynette Frederick and husband Jon, great nephew Sean and great niece Kaitlin; niece Cathy Fedigan and husband Brian, great nephews Alex and Kellen in Auburn; niece Jennifer Gonzalez, great niece Natalia and great nephew Danny in New York City; Sister-in-law Joan Fedor in New Jersey; Brother-in-law Michael Fedor and his wife Karen in Scottsville; nephews Andrew in Scottsville, and Joseph in Cayuga; and many members of the extended families. Her many dear friends have been wonderful companions, and their love and support meant the world to her.
A Calling hour will be held, Saturday, May 24, 2025, at White Chapel Funeral Home from 10am - 11am with a memorial service to immediately follow at 11am. Burial will be in St. Joseph's Cemetry, Fleming.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to Roswell Park Comprehensive Cancer Center would be a wonderful way to remember her.
