Kenneth C. Longyear, 75 of Port Byron, Passed away Sunday, August 10, 2025 at his home. Born October 25, 1949, he was the son of the late Winford and Fabiana DeBois Longyear, and was a graduate of Port Byron High School, Class of 1967. Ken was a United States Air Force Veteran and was employed for many years with Kubis Auto Parts in Auburn. He enjoyed listening to music, especially by John Prine and his son Matthew. He was a huge history and astrology buff, a lifetime member of the Weedsport Rod and Gun Club and one of the original members of Brothers Few Motorcycle Club. Ken also coached all ages and leagues of baseball, as well as women’s league softball. Bringing home a county championship.
He is survived by his loving wife Laurie Longley Longyear; his children, Steven Short, John Short, Sarah Casler (Dan), Katharine Longyear and Matthew Longyear; grandchildren, Kayla Longyear, Nathan Casler, Charlee Clink, Cade Clink and Lucas Casler; sisters, Laraine Roberts and Kathleen Spingler (Ken); as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Ken is predeceased by a brother Jim Longyear.
There will be a celebration of life at a later date. The family wishes to express their deep appreciation for the exceptional care provided to Ken during his time at McHarrie Life.
