Kenneth W. VanWie 62, of Cayuga NY formally of Weedsport, NY, passed away at Upstate Hospital surrounded by his loving family. Ken was not perfect, and he would have told you that, but all that knew and loved him thought he was a pretty amazing man. He was an avid outdoors man, avid comic book collector, World Word II buff. He loved Rock and Roll, he would have gone to every Alice Cooper concert if he could and spend time at the beach. Ken was the life of the party and loved by so many. He didn't let being in a wheelchair stop him from living life and doing things he loved. He would even do things he shouldn't that drove his family crazy and usually ended in a phone call, text message or even a random stranger driving down Laraway road stopping to help. It also led to some pretty funny of "Ken stories".
He is survived by his loving wife of 22 yrs. Franci VanWie (Perky), his daughter Darynn VanWie (Roland Talmadge), step-children Felicia Freier (Tristan), Josh Coleman, Britt Springs (Jess), Colby Guaniciale (Geoff) and Schuyler Springs, his grandsons that he loved so very much Colton, Torin, August, Oliver, Everett, Arden, Maveryk, Jaxson, and bonus grandkids Travis, Lexi, Gavin, Addie, Reaux, his father, his sister, brothers and countless nieces and nephews, He is predeceased by his mom Jewel VanWie and his favorite girl Lexi.
Ken lived life to the fullest and has helped others do the same by giving the gift of life through organ donation in lieu of flowers, contributions may be to UR- Finger Lakes Donor Recovery Network, 30 Corporate Woods, Suite 220 Rochester, Ny 14623, referencing Ken's name on the memo line.
Visitation will be held Sunday, October 1st from 11am-1pm with a memorial service to immediately follow at 1pm all in White Chapel Funeral Home, 2719 Erie Drive Weedsport, NY 13166
