Leon “Sonny” Mumford

Leon "Sonny" Mumford, 65, of Auburn, passed away on May 22, 2025, at Upstate Hospital in Syracuse. Mr. Mumford was born in Auburn on November 15, 1959. He was a retired truck driver. 

Sonny had a love for the outdoors; especially fishing and boating. 

He enjoyed the simple things in life, like mowing his yard or visiting with family and friends  

Sonny and his late wife, Mary Lou always looked forward to traveling to Florida, where they spent many winters. 

Sonny is survived by his sons Leon Mumford Jr. and Lewis Kindrew; his step-sons, Robert Stearns, Henry Stearns III, Scott Stearns and Jason Hawker, several grandchildren, and great grandchildren. 

Sonny was predeceased by his wife and best friend, Mary Lou Mumford in 2020.

Following Sonny's wishes there will be no services held.
