Lester L Coats

Lester L. Coats, 94, of Elbridge, passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 2, 2025, surrounded by his family. Mr. Coats was born in Scipio Center, NY October 20, 1930, to the late Claude and Aroline Kettner Coats. After years of working as a dairy farmer, Lester retried from Ramsdell Elementary School, where he was the head custodian and soon became known as "Grandpa".

Lester had a love of the outdoors; he especially enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing, camping and gardening.     

Lester is survived by his children; Susan (Stephen) Radcliffe, Bonnie Waite, Vickie (Bert) Sova, Patricia (Leo "Squirt") Duger; his brother, Paul Coats; and 13 grandchildren, 30 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. 

In addition to his parents, Lester was predeceased by his wife, Joan M. Coats; his son and daughter-in-law, Charles (Mirena) Coats; and his siblings, Clyde Coats, Richard Coats, Gerald Coats, and Audrey Daeffler. 

Calling hours will be held Wednesday, August 6, 2025, from 11am-1pm with a service to immediately follow at 1pm at White Chapel Funeral Home, 2719 Erie Dr. Weedsport. Burial will be held at Maple Grove Cemetery immediately following services.
