Marguerite Baier Obituary

Marguerite E. "Midge" Baier, 90 formerly of Auburn, passed away Monday, January 12, 2026, at Huntington Living Center, Waterloo. Born January 20, 1935, in Clyde, NY, she was the daughter of the late George and Eleanor Showens Hoatland and was a graduate of Auburn's Central High School, Class of 1953. In her early years, Midge was employed by several local businesses including the Dunn and McCarthy Shoe Company and later RPM Industries. She was an avid gardener, tending to her flowers and enjoyed camping, especially to one of her favorite spots, Fair Haven. For Midge, nothing compared to the joy she found cooking, baking and spending time with her loving family.

She is survived by two daughters, Susan Macyczko (Michael) and Linda Anthony; grandchildren Kelly Colone (Mario), Robert Anthony (Colby) and Leann Anthony; great grandchild Cory Anthony; and sister-in-law Alice Hoatland; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, and late husband Frank P. "Jiggs" Baier Jr., she is predeceased by her brothers Robert and George Hoatland, sister Gerry Ruston (Bob); sister-in-law Mildred LaMay and son-in-law Doug Anthony.

Per Midge’s wishes, a private graveside ceremony at St. Joseph's Cemetery was held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are with White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., Auburn.

The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the nurses and staff at the Huntington Living Center, for the outstanding attention and care shown toward Midge during her five years there.

Contributions may be made in her memory to the Huntington Living Center Auxiliary, 369 E. Main Street, Waterloo, NY 13165.
