Marlyn Salato Obituary

Marlyn D. Salato, 81, of Delray Beach FL, formerly of Cayuga NY, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on September 24, 2024. Born in Auburn NY on May 31, 1943, Marlyn was the daughter of the late Marion W. and Madeline H. (Nolan) Roudabush. She attended Cayuga Community College, receiving an associate's degree. Marlyn was a communicant of St. Joseph's Church in Cayuga NY, St. Vincent Ferrer Church in Delray Beach FL and more recently St. Mary’s Church in Auburn NY. She was a member of the Cayuga Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and a former Trustee for the Village of Cayuga. In addition, she was also the Village Clerk in Cayuga NY for 16 years and a supervisor with the Department of Motor Vehicles, retiring after 23 years of employment. In her free time, Marlyn enjoyed time with family, reading, baking and peaceful walks outdoors. She was a loving, kind and generous woman whose vibrant personality brought joy to everyone she met. 

Marlyn is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Peter A. Salato, Jr.  Their 62 year love story began on July 4, 1962, when Peter proposed to Marlyn behind the backstop at the Y field before his baseball game. Marlyn is also survived by her three devoted daughters, Christina (Thomas) Carter, Lisa (Shaun) Warner and Kimberly Salato (Will); her grandchildren, Carrie (Anthony) Bartolotta, Peter (Nikkie) Ward, Adam (Dansa) Evans, Sarah Evans (Justin), Jessica, Kouria, Koa, and Kaven Warner; her great grandchildren, Nina, Antonio and Giovanni Bartolotta, Parker and Harlow Ward, and David Evans; her sisters, Patricia Elliott, Linda Cline and Susan (Carl) Cuipylo; her sisters-in-law, June Smith, Debbie Salato and brother-in-law, Rich (Becky) Salato, along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Marlyn was predeceased by her grandson, Donald W. Ward, Jr., her sister, Jean Fox, her brothers-in-law, Peter Fox, Lloyd Cline, Harry Elliott, Dan Salato, Tom Leader and Robert Smith.  Her sister-In-law Celeste Leader. 

Calling hours for Marlyn will be held on Sunday, September 29th from 2pm - 4pm at White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South Street, Auburn NY. A funeral mass will be celebrated on Monday, September 30th at St. Mary's Church, 15 Clark Street, Auburn, NY at 10:30 am, with interment to follow at Lakeview Cemetery, Cayuga NY.
