Michele "Micki" Prentice Obituary

Michele “Micki” Leone Prentice, 71, of Auburn, passed away peacefully after a long illness on October 7, 2025, at Auburn Community Hospital, surrounded by her loving family.

A lifelong resident of Auburn, Micki was born on December 29, 1953, the daughter of the late Thomas “Tucker” and Jeanne Adams Leone. She was a proud member of the first graduating class of Auburn High School in 1971. Micki went on to earn her Nursing Degree from Cayuga Community College and dedicated her life to caring for others.

She began her nursing career at Auburn Nursing Home, where she loved caring for the elderly and forming meaningful connections with her patients and their families. Her gentle nature and genuine compassion made her especially beloved by those she cared for. In a testament to her devotion, on her wedding day she even stopped by the nursing home so her residents could share in her special day. Micki later continued her nursing career at the Finger Lakes Center for Living, where she carried on her dedicated service to others until retirement.

Micki had a wonderful eye for fashion and a special talent for decorating, always bringing beauty and warmth to any space. She also loved a good shopping trip to Pottery Barn, transforming her home into something that looked like it came straight from the pages of Country Living Magazine. She was known for her signature red lipstick and her perfectly decorated front porches each season, most memorably her Halloween witches—small touches that reflected her creativity and love of making life special. A devoted animal lover, Micki always had a loyal canine companion by her side. Above all, she cherished her family, who meant the world to her.

Micki is survived by her husband of 48 years, Thomas Prentice; her children Andrew, Abby, and Zachary Prentice; and her brother, Hon. Thomas (Deborah) Leone; and many beloved nieces and nephews.

In keeping with Micki’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.
