Patrick L. Burns, 79 passed away Friday evening, October 18, 2024 with his loving family at his side. Born in Auburn, October 9, 1945, he was the son of the late Walter A. Sr. and Louise Speno Burns. Pat graduated from Mount Carmel high school in 1963, SUNY Morrisville in 1965 and The Ohio State University in 1968. He worked for Cornell Cooperative Extension 4-H in Cayuga and Oswego Counties and also worked several years in construction with the Carpenters Local 453 and Salato Construction.
Pat was then employed with Cayuga County Sheriffs Department, Custody Division, retiring as a Sergeant. Following his retirement, Pat was a Real Estate Agent with Sherlock Holmes Real Estate. He was a devout parishioner of St. Mary’s Church in Auburn, and served there as a Eucharistic Minister and Usher. Additionally, Pat was a former member of the Throop Volunteer Fire Department.
He was a devoted father to Eric W. Burns Sr. (Kayla) and Timothy P. Burns (Carrie); a loving grandfather to Eric Jr., Elliot, Silas, Ellanor, Olga and Michael Burns; faithful brother to Walter A Burns Jr. (Sharon) of FL, Dan Burns of Auburn and Robert Burns (Gail) of Syracuse.
In addition to his parents, Pat was predeceased by his beloved wife Beverly “BJ” Burridge Burns.
He was a cookie connoisseur and a proud Ohio State Football fan. His love of family shown through with everything he did in his lifetime, and his family is forever grateful for his influence and impact as a husband, father and papa/grandpa.
Friends are invited to join the family for a Funeral Mass to be offered Wednesday at 10:30 am in St. Mary’s Church. Burial will follow in St Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours for Pat will be conducted Tuesday from 4:00 to 6:00 pm in the White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South St. Auburn.
