Paul Bracht Obituary

Paul C. Bracht, 74, of Burdett, NY. passed away on Sunday, March 23, 2025, at Upstate Hospital in Syracuse. Mr. Bracht was born in New York, NY on January 28, 1951, to the late Richard and Marie Neil Bracht. Paul proudly served our country with the United States Marine Corps. from 1970-1973.  After over 20 years of employment, Paul retired from NY State where he was the Chief Canal Operator.

Paul’s pride and joy came from raising his children. He loved coaching them in various sports. He was their biggest (and loudest) fan in the stands. He never missed a game or meet, nor would he miss a chance to tell anyone who would listen how proud he was of his kids. He lived a life full of experiences. From open ocean fisherman to mechanic, from telephone lineman to construction worker, and from factory worker / foreman to canal operator. Through these experiences he was an ardent learner and teacher, he became a jack of all trades and craftsman. There wasn’t a project or problem he couldn’t figure out, for himself or anyone who asked for help. His life also taught him how to treat people with respect and meet them where they were at, regardless of their situation or background. He was a wise counselor for anyone who would listen, but even if you didn’t, he would love you through any situation you put yourself in. Paul will be missed by all who knew him.

Paul is survived by his companion of 15 years, Beata McCarthy; his children, Shane Bracht, Ryan (Allison) Bracht and Katelyn Bracht (Adam Rivera); his grandchildren, Matthew (Courtney), Alyssa, Aaliyah, Isabella, Abigail, Emery, Alexander, Elijah and Jack; two great grandchildren, Averie and Tatum; and his siblings, Carol (David) Deloria and Matthew Bracht.

In addition to his parents, Paul was predeceased by his brother, Richard Bracht.

Following Paul's wishes, there will be no services held.

Donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project or to the US Department of Veterans Affairs.
