Peter Lewis Obituary

 

 

Peter W. Lewis, 74 of Auburn, passed away Sunday, September 14, 2025 at his home, surrounded by his loving family.  

 

Born in Auburn August 1, 1951, Pete was the son of the late Walter and Josephine Bachman Lewis, and a graduate of West High School, Class of 1969. He was active as a child in St. Aloysius Church, serving as an altar boy and singing in the choir. While in school, Pete was involved in numerous activities including being a staff member of the school newspaper, youth woodworking instructor at the Neighborhood House and was in charge of the Hi-Y program at the YMCA for West High. 

 

Pete worked at the Hollywood Restaurant and later ALCO, retiring after 30 years of faithful employment. He was a member of their Union Local 3482 and served as their Financial Secretary. Pete was a 20-year member of the SK Post of the American Legion and a former member of the VFW Auxillary. He was a life member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians, JFK Div. 1 in Auburn and was their bar chairman for many years. Pete was honored to be appointed the 2023 Grand Marshall of the New York State's Shortest St. Patrick's Day Parade. 

 

He is survived by his children; Carrie Ames (Randy), Cassie Kalet (Steve) and Peter D. Lewis; grandchildren Tyler and Kelsie Pierce, Alexis Ames and Noah Lewis; great grandchildren Santiago, and Luca; nephew Judson Stiglich Jr. (Nichole); niece Gretchen Gibbs (Aaron); several cousins; and very dear family friends. 

 

In addition to his parents, Peter is predeceased by his sibling Catherine Lewis, Teresa Koon and Craig Lewis; as well as the mother of his children Catherine "Cate" Hutson.

 

Friends are invited to join the family for a Funeral Mass to be offered Friday, September 19, 2025 at 1:00 pm in St. Francis Church. A calling hour will be conducted prior to the mass starting at 12:00 pm, in the church.

 

Pete embraced being and Irishman and had many lasting friendships that followed him through his lifetime.   

 

Contributions may be made in memory of Peter to the AOH Building Fund or the SK Post of the American Legion.
