Phyllis M. (Harold) Loyster

Phyllis M. Loyster, 93, passed away Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at Auburn Community Hospital, with her family by her side. Born in Auburn on March 18, 1933, she was the daughter of the late Cyril and Eileen Donahue Harold and was a graduate of Holy Family High School. When she was younger, Phyllis was employed as a ticket taker for many years at Auburn’s Shine's Theatre and retired from Mercy Rehabilitation center as a CNA. She enjoyed life to the fullest, was proud of her Irish heritage and was thrilled when she had a chance to travel to Ireland. She also enjoyed going out to breakfast most mornings with her crossword puzzles, newspaper, and catching up on the news with all the folks she met up with. Phyllis bowled in two leagues until she was 86 years old and enjoyed her monthly trip to the casino. The small wins while there, was what was exciting to her.  

She survived by her loving children, Sharon Stapleton (Paul), Sue Szakalksi, John Loyster, and Mary Loyster; grandchildren Amy Flask (Donny), Jeff Stapleton (Angela), Dustin Szakalski, Ryan Szakalski, Jason Loyster, Adam Loyster, Stephanie Shaw (Chuck), Taylre Marti (Nico), Michael Loyster Jr., Matthew Loyster, and Ann Marie and Crystal Loyster; niece Nora Daly; Nephew Gary Daly; and many great grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Phyllis was predeceased by son Michael; sister Sue Daly; niece Christine Daly; and her significant other of many years, Bill Soloman. 

Friends are invited to join the family for a Mass of Christian Burial to be offered Monday, April 20, 2026 at 11:00am in St. Mary's Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. A calling hour will be conducted at 10:00 am, prior to the mass. Arrangements are with White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., Auburn.
