Richard Taradejna, commonly known as “Chef Flip” or “Pitmaster Flip,” was born on October 14, 1968 and passed away on December 16, 2025.
Richard spent the last 12 years selflessly volunteering his time to feed the less fortunate during the holiday seasons, believing deeply in caring for others through warmth, generosity, and a shared meal. He was also an active contributor and supporter of no-kill animal shelters and rehabilitation organizations, advocating fiercely for animals without a voice.
He is survived by his wife, Shannon Taradejna; his two stepsons Zac Meyers and Andrew Wilbur; his sisters Lisa, Carol & Delores; and several other living kin including nieces and nephews, both biological and “adopted.” He also leaves behind his beloved fur babies Copper and Lou, who were cherished members of his family.
A pillar of the community’s culinary arts for several decades, Richard proudly served his community one plate at a time, guided by love, passion, and the cherished recipes passed down from his mother, June. To many, food was comfort—but to Richard it was connection, service, and his legacy.
Chef Flip is a name that will live on for generations within this community, remembered not only for his incredible talent, but for the heart and soul he poured into everything and everyone he served.
Friends are invited to Richard's Celebration of Life on Monday, January 5, 2026 from 3:00 to 7:00pm at Prison City Pub and Brewery, 28 State Street, Auburn.
