Robert A. Cartner, 83 of Owasco, passed away Friday, April 26, 2024, at Upstate University Hospital Community Campus. Mr. Cartner was born in Auburn NY on December 29, 1940.
He retired from ALCO after 30 years of employment. Bob was a Lifetime Member and Past Chief of the Owasco Fire Department; badge number 111. He joined the department in 1965 and served as Chief from 1984-1987. Bob was always on the go and loved being outdoors. He enjoyed bowling, hunting and of course trying his luck at gambling. Above all he cherished the time he spent with his family.
Bob is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Debbie; his children, Pam Cartner (Mark), David (Shirley) Cartner; step-daughter, Maggie (Thomas) Wilson; daughter-in-law, Jamie Lupo; grandchildren, Melissa Cartner (JR), Kristen Cartner (Aaron), Weston (Andre) Malek, Lindsay (Dylan) Wise, Cole Lupo, Cameron Lupo, Vincent Wilson; his great grandson, Daxxon Wise; his adopted grandchildren, Johnny Greene and Bradley Dart; many nieces and nephews; and his loving dog, Toby.
Bob was predeceased by his mother Josephine Hutchings Tryon; brothers, Joseph and Thomas Cartner; sister Beverly Plis; step-son, David Lupo; and sister-in-law, Judy Cornelius
Visitation will be held Friday, May 3, 2024, from 11am-1pm with a service to immediately follow at 1pm all in White Chapel Funeral Home, 197 South St Auburn.
Burial will take place in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
