Robert L. Gilmore, 94, of Cato, passed away at Auburn Community Hospital on August 24, 2024. Born in Auburn on July 23, 1930, Robert was the son of the late Robert and Bertha (Higgins) Gilmore. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1950-1952, with 5 additional years in the Army Reserve. Bob spent many years employed with the Carpenters Union out of Rochester as a Foreman. He also worked security at Syracuse Hancock International Airport.
Robert is survived by his son in law, Keith Twomey; his granddaughter, Heather Twomey; his nieces and nephews, Rosemary Cuadros, Diane Paxhia and Joseph Paxhia and extended family, Ruth Gilmore and Gary Wright.
In addition to his parents, Robert was predeceased by his beloved wife, Virginia Gilmore; his only daughter, Ferne Twomey; his sisters, Bernita Paxhia and Blanche Kehoski and his brother, Charles Gilmore.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to Bob's neighbors, Morris Smithler and Jimmy Gunsalus, for all the love and care they provided.
A graveside service will be held privately for family at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Port Byron, where Robert and his wife will be laid to rest together.
