Roberta Kukiela Obituary

Roberta Ann (Burns) Kukiela, 77, of Auburn, passed away on March 2, 2024, after a courageous battle with pulmonary fibrosis. Bobbie, as she was affectionately known, was born in Syracuse on September 19, 1946, to the late Robert and Agnes (Tripiciano) Burns. She received her associate degree from Auburn Community College and held numerous positions throughout her working career. Bobbie was a nurse aide at Auburn Memorial Hospital and later went on to Cayuga County Savings Bank, employed as a bank teller. She taught preschoolers at Holy Family Church and was the religious education coordinator for St. Hyacinth's Church and St. Francis Church for many years. After retirement, Bobbie was a lunch monitor at Herman Elementary School. She enjoyed reading, gardening and in her free time volunteered for multiple organizations in the community. 

Bobbie is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, Michael Kukiela; her son, Mark (Kimberly) Kukiela; her brother, Michael Burns; her brother-in-law, Don Arquette; her sister-in-law, Donna; her grandchildren, Robert Bennett, Joseph Kukiela and Ciara Kukiela; her great grandchild, Austin Kirkland and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Bobbie was predeceased by her son, Robert Kukiela; her brother, John Burns, her sister, Bonnie Adams; her sisters-in-law, Colleen Burns, Joan Arquette and Dolores (Ed) Rogalski.

There will no calling hours, services will be held privately for family at a later date.
