Rose Hogan Obituary

Rose A. Hogan, 89, formerly of John Smith Avenue, Auburn, passed away Tuesday, March 25, 2025 in Auburn Community Hospital. Born May 27, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Louis Sr. and Madeline Mazzeo Riccio and was a life resident of the area. Rose was a graduate of Central High School, Class of 1953, where she was a cheerleader and played softball.  She continued and completed her education at both Empire State College and St. Joseph's School for Nursing, becoming a Registered Nurse. She was employed with Mercy Rehabilitation Center for over twenty-five years, and retired as the Director of Nurses, the first lay person to hold that position keeping her nursing license active until the age of 78. A communicant of St. Mary's Church, Rose was a devout Catholic and was an active volunteer in all church functions, including their pasta dinners. She enjoyed caring for her home and lawn, cross stitching and going to lunch to catch up with her former classmates. Above all, Rose loved spending time with her family and filled her home, and the front of her refrigerator, with photos of her grandchildren, and the family she loved so dearly.

She is survived by her son Tim Hogan (Svetlana Kuksgauzen); daughter Cynthia Hogan (Michael Timofejew); grandchildren Oleg Kuksgauzen and Patrick and Elena Hogan; several nieces and nephews including niece Penny Gulliver (Harry); nephew Louis Riccio III (Nicole); and cousin Dick Donofrio, with whom Rose was very close with.

In addition to her parents, Rose is predeceased by her loving husband Frederick "Ned" Hogan; and brother Louis Riccio II.
