Ruth B. VanNostrand, age 92, of Port Byron, peacefully passed away Saturday, August 31, 2024, at Auburn Community Hospital. She was born in Conquest, NY on June 23, 1932, a daughter of the late Walter and Lilly Mae DeVoe Janes.
Ruth and her late husband, Adelbert Weigand Sr. began their life in Weedsport when they purchased their first home in 1963.
Ruth was always a hard worker; she worked at numerous restaurants as a cook or waitress until the age of 80. She loved crocheting; she often made sweaters and blankets for her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren. She liked her word search books and had a love of nature, she also enjoyed watching the birds and squirrels.
Ruth is survived by her children, John (Patricia) Weigand, Richard Rooker, Sharon (Bob) Pallick, Lorraine (Sammy) Vega, Douglas Weigand, Eleanor (John) Loomer and Russell (Iska) Weigand; her sister, Mary Westscott; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Ruth was predeceased by both of her husbands, Adelbert Weigand Sr
and Lloyd VanNostrand, her children, Adelbert Weigand Jr and Virginia Rooker; and ten siblings.
Visitation will be held, Saturday, September 7, 2024, from 10am - noon with service to immediately follow at noon all in White Chapel Funeral Home, 2719 Erie Dr. Weedsport. Interment will follow at the Conquest Village Cemetery.
