Sandi Mettler Obituary

Sandi L. Mettler, 74, of Auburn, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 17, 2026, at Matthew House, surrounded by family.

Sandi was born in Oil City, PA, the daughter of the late Charles and Lilly Potter. She married her husband, Charles Mettler, in 2002.

Sandi had a passion for helping those in need. She was a committed volunteer for 30 years with the American Red Cross and worked as Emergency Services Director for the CAP Cayuga/Seneca Chapter. She was a first responder after the September 11th attacks, helping with searches and cleanup at Ground Zero. In 2013, she was awarded the Real Heroes Disaster Relief Award, honoring her heroic volunteer efforts. In 2007, Sandi also helped found Chapel House in Auburn, providing emergency shelter, meals, and support services to men and women in Cayuga County.

We take comfort in knowing Sandi is at peace, remembered forever as a devoted matriarch who was at her very best and happiest when with her family. To see her smile was to see a woman who knew she was exactly where she wanted to be, home.

Sandi was predeceased by her beloved husband, Charles Mettler, in 2013. She is survived by her sister, Linda (Paul) Brown, of Kennerdell, PA; her loving daughter, Audra (Bill) Moore; her niece, Ashley Robinson; her grandchildren, Alicia (Eric) Johnson, Ali (Joe) Tremblett, Courtney (Stefan) Nguyen, Michael (Chelsea) Jakaub, and Trista Robinson; and her great-grandchildren, Eric John, Elliot, and Emmett Johnson; Cecelia Tremblett; Genevieve Jakaub; and Baby Nguyen.
