Sharon P. Scanlon, 78 of Union Springs, passed away Friday, October 31, 2025 at her home. Born November 14, 1946 in Auburn, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Patricia Connors Meyers and was a graduate of Union Springs High School, Class of 1964. Sharon was employed as an LPN all her life, beginning her career at Seneca Falls Hospital, before retiring from Crouse Hospital, where she worked in the operating room and later, labor and delivery. She was also an evening nurse at Matthew House for many years, a job that she found very rewarding. Even in her twenty years as a "snowbird" in Florida, she worked as a hospice nurse. A lover of all animals, Sharon operated her own animal rehab, often having all types of animals at her home, nursing them back to health. Above all else, she was a woman of strong faith and love of family.
She is survived by her husband of forty-five years, Charles Scanlon; one daughter Nicole Tanner; sons Christopher Pickard and Terrance Pickard (Amy); two grandsons Connor MacKenzie (Cassie) and Joseph Tanner; sister-in-law Lee Meyers; her Godchild Robin Battersby; several nieces; and one nephew.
In addition to her parents, Sharon was predeceased by her brother David Meyers; and Aunt Mary Connors.
Friends are invited to join the family for a Funeral Mass to be offered at 9:30am, Wednesday, November 5, 2025 in St. Mary's Church. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery Mausoleum.
