Stephen W. Smith

Stephen W. Smith, 76, of Owasco, passed away on June 9, 2026, at Auburn Community Hospital. Born in Auburn, NY on June 2, 1950, Stephen was the son of the late Willard and Alice (Walter) Smith. He was employed with the Town of Owasco for 36 years and also worked at Empire Cheese for 18 years. Most recently, Steve enjoyed his position as a crossing guard for Owasco Elementary School. He was a proud, lifetime member of the Owasco Fire Department, having volunteered for 55 years. Steve's wonderful smile and belly laugh will be missed by all.  

Stephen is survived by his loving wife, Deborah Smith; his siblings, Frederick Smith, Richard Smith, Gary Smith and Linda Lopiccolo; along with many nieces and nephews and extended family members. 

In addition to his parents, Stephen was predeceased by his siblings, Robert Smith, Marlene Tidd and Beth Blaisdell. 

Calling hours will be held on Sunday, June 14th from 1:00 to 4:00pm in the White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South Street, Auburn, NY. A funeral service will take place in the funeral home on Monday at 11:00 am, followed by interment in Soule Cemetery, Auburn.
