Thomas E. Sevier, 78 of Auburn, passed away Monday, June 10, 2024, in St. Joseph's Hospital. Born in Auburn on February 21, 1946, he was the son of the late Emil and Ione Bryant Sevier and served honorably with the United States Navy from 1966 to 1970. Tom was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church, a life member and Past President of the Sennett Fire Department, Past President and Vice President of the Weedsport Historical Society, and a history buff, mostly exploring the Civil War era. A jack of all trades, he could fix or fabricate almost anything. He had boundless compassion; always striving to assist others and lend a helping hand wherever possible. He also enjoyed animals, bus trips with the Niles and Springport Seniors, and time spent with his family.
Tom is survived by his loving wife Janny Donkervoort Sevier; two sons Gerald Ruiter and Paul Ruiter (Lori); grandchildren Austin Ruiter and Kiley Giangiobbe; sisters Jane Maloney, Rita Sevier, and Marcia Connelly (Michael); brothers James, John (Jeanie), Charles (Marleah) and David (Patricia); and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Tom is predeceased by his brother Richard Sevier; sister Anne Buckingham; brother-in-law Greg Maloney; and sister-in-law Linda Sevier.
Friends are invited to join the family for a Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated on Saturday, June 15, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. in Sacred Heart Church. Calling hours for Tom will be conducted Friday, June 14, 2024, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. in the White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., 197 South Street, Auburn.
