Virginia "Ginny" B Rooker

Virginia "Ginny" B. Rooker, 70, of Port Byron passed away on February 14, 2024, at Upstate University Hospital. Born in Auburn on March 23, 1953, Ginny was the daughter of Ruth (VanNostrand) Weigand and the late Adelbert "Red" Weigand. She was previously employed as a machine operator at McQuay International in Auburn. Ginny enjoyed hiking and woodworking. She spent many summers at Sylvan Beach campground with her husband and family. She enjoyed helping her friends at the campgrounds, taking on a variety of building projects. Ginny collected frogs and even made a stream at her campsite, attracting many. Ginny was kindhearted and will be missed greatly by those who knew and loved her. 

 In addition to her mother, Ginny is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Richard Rooker Sr.; her daughter, Carrie Jo (Scott Sr.) Bell; her sons, Richard Jr. (Debra York) Rooker and Timothy (Rose Bush) Rooker; her siblings, John Weigand, Sharon Pallick, Lorraine Vega, Douglas Weigand, Eleanor Loomer and Russell Weigand; her grandchildren, Scott Bell Jr., Christina Stock, Mariah Rooker, Catheryn Smith, Jozeph Rooker, Zachary Rooker, Alexander Rooker, Timothy Rooker and Jordan Rooker; her great grandchildren, Amelia Vanderwerff, Maeve Stock and Seamus Stock. In addition to her father, Ginny was predeceased by her brother, Adelbert Weigand, her grandson, Richard Rooker III, and her best friend Monica "Mooch" Stanley. 

Calling hours for Ginny will be held on Sunday, February 18 from 1 PM to 3 PM in White Chapel Funeral Home, 2719 Erie Dr., Weedsport, NY. A funeral service will follow at 3 PM in the funeral home.  Family and friends are invited to join for a celebration of life, immediately following services, at the American Legion, 157 Main Street, Port Byron.
