Wesley E. Bobbett, 91, the husband of Ann McKay Bobbett of Throop, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2026 at Auburn Community Hospital. Born in Weedsport on November 17, 1934, he was the son of the late Ernest and Lucy McLoud Bobbett.
As a young man, Wes was a member of the Future Farmers of America and the Air Scouts, a division of the Boy Scouts of America, where he attained the highest honor of "Ace". He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Agriculture from Cornell University prior to enlisting in the Army from 1956 to 1958. Following his honorable discharge, Wes was employed with Alco and later retired as a Field Planner from NYSEG following thirty years of faithful employment.
Raised across the street on the family farm, he always had animals behind the home. Everything from cows to sheep, pheasants, pigs and turkeys. In his spare time, he tinkered with radio-controlled airplanes, enjoyed outings with his fishing group and had an avid interest in cars. He regularly attended races at Watkins Glen and went to the Indy 500. In his younger years he owned an Austin Healy and then refurbished and still owned a classic 1949 MG TC.
Wes was known for his sense of humor and was often the source of a good laugh. He was friendly and affable, and it was hard for his family to go someplace and not find someone who knew him. Those who knew him always had positive experiences to share about Wes. He was kind, warm and helpful to his family, friends, and strangers he would come across.
In addition to Ann, his wife of 64 years, he is survived by sons James Bobbett (Kristi) and Daniel Bobbett; daughter Sarah Del Favero (David); four grandchildren Ariel (Robert), Maria, Shaun and Zachary; and several nieces and nephews.
Per Wesley's wishes, services are private. There will be a Celebration of Life held at Curley’s (Red Suspender Room) on Sunday, March 22, 2026 from Noon to 4:00 pm. Arrangements are with White Chapel Funeral Home Inc., Auburn.
