William “Bill” Leschak Obituary

William "Bill" Leschak, 95, of East Lake Road, Owasco, passed away Thursday, June 27, 2024 in the Commons on St. Anthony St. Born December 9, 1928 in Edwardsville, PA, he was the son of the late Luke and Mary Wanko Leschak, and lived most of his life in the area. Bill was a 1946 graduate of West High School and joined the United States Navy where he honorably served from 1950 to 1954. He studied industrial arts at Oswego State and was a talented carpenter, building some unique pieces that remain in his home. Bill worked many different jobs before working for and retiring from the Town of Owasco and their Water Dept. He was a self-proclaimed "jack of all trades, master of none,” although his family watched him master many projects around the home he loved, together with his late wife and love of his life, Joan Grant Leschak. Bill's imaginative and innovative mind allowed for the creation of their holiday displays, manicured front hill, and impeccable gardens and grounds. Bill was the "mountain goat" of their East Lake Road home.

He is survived by his children, James P. Leschak of FL, Mike F. Leschak (Stacy) of GA, Susan A. Beck (Roland) of Sennett and Cathryn I. Leschak of Jordan; one sister Pauline Leclerc; and several grandchildren; great grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, and loving wife Joan, Bill is predeceased by three sisters Mary Komanecky, Irene Catalano and Helen Volsko; and two brothers, Anthony and Nicholas Leschak.

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the staff at the Commons on Saint Anthony for the care that Bill received while there. As well as his care takers over the past year; grandsons Jon, Daniel, and friends Denise, April and Fern.
