James Stephen Steigerwald, 80, beloved father, and husband of 54 years died surrounded by his family on Thursday, February 1 after an extended illness.
A lifelong resident of Auburn, James was born August 2, 1937 to William & Alice (McGee).  He was a graduate of Holy Family School and Auburn Community College.   James worked at The National Bank of Auburn as a comptroller for 26 years and then moved on to Solvay Bank where he worked for an additional 18 years.  
He is survived by his loving wife Karen (Mullally),  three children Karen Cummings (Glenn); Jill Williamson (Willard) & James Jr. (Gail), as well as six grandchildren -  Daniel, Joshua, Emily, Molly, Elizabeth & Katherine, his brother George (Carolyn) along with several nieces & nephews.  He was predeceased by his older brother William (Bill).
Jim was active with the Owasco Fire Department where he retired as a life-long member.   He enjoyed being a member and served a term as President of the BAI.  He took joy in working on his home - a life-long endeavor, as well as, reading, doing puzzles and sitting down to watch a Sunday game.  
A mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 10:30 a.m. Monday at St. Mary’s Church, Auburn.  Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Fleming.  Friends are invited to call on the family from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. Sunday at White Chapel Funeral Home, 197 South St., Auburn.
The family wishes to extend their appreciation to the staff of Auburn Community Hospital, for their wonderful care and support.
Contributions in memory of James Steigerwald may be made to the Owasco Fire Department.
